Casa de Memoria is back, and its first live auction for the year looks promising

'Primero' offers a bit of everything for any avid collector, or for anyone looking to add a new item to their homes

Whether you’re an avid collector, enthusiast, or someone who’s searching for something to spruce up and add refinement to your home, Casa de Memoria will definitely cater to your sophisticated taste.

Letter of Philip II to Lazaro Moreno de Leon

Along the busy Roxas Blvd. rests Palacio de Memoria, and held within its historic architecture is its auction house, Casa de Memoria. On March 20, 2021, Saturday, 2 p.m., it will be welcoming bidders for its first auction of the year named “Primero,” which is its fifth since it opened a little over two years ago. The auction house will be housing a tasteful curation of Asian and European antiquities and objets d’art.

I must say, just by walking along the painstakingly decorated halls is an experience in itself. Once you enter the gallery, you’ll be greeted by some of the remarkable pieces from Dalí and Picasso. Turn your gaze a bit and you’ll see the iconic portrait of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol. For a slice of history, view Lot 027, the Letter of King Philip II of Spain to Lazaro Moreno de Leon, who was once governor of Tenerife and La Palma

If you’re looking for unique and timeless pieces for your home, a 19th century Italian paper desk in ebonized wood with ivory and bone inlay (Lot 10) will surely catch your attention, together with the Napoleon-III-style mahogany sideboard with a green marble top (Lot 35), which have starting bids of P360,000 and P120,000, respectively. Casa de Memoria also takes pride in its unrivaled collection of religious iconographies. Several pieces will be up for bidding at the auction, including a Mexican oil on copper painting depicting the Holy Trinity (Lot 124), a Santo Niño wooden relief (Lot 147), a Spanish oil on board depicting the Assumption of the Virgin (Lot 179), and an Indo-Portuguese Cristo Moribundo carved in ivory (Lot 200). These lots have starting bids that range from P30,000 to P280,000. Aside from these, more rare antiques, decorative art pieces, and collectibles such as porcelain vases, tableware, bronze sculptures, crystal centerpieces, historical period pieces, and chandeliers will go under the hammer at the “Primero” auction.

Should you wish to rediscover history, heritage, and art, this restored pre-war mansion is a must visit. For better appreciation of these items, interested bidders may visit Casa de Memoria at Palacio de Memoria, 95 Roxas Blvd., Tambo, Parañaque until March 19 for the auction viewing. Strict safety protocols are enforced at the venue. To capture the overall feel after your viewing, indulge in a delightful gastronomic experience as you dine at Palacio de Memoria’s newest amenity, The Loggia by Margarita Forés.
