Mayor Jaime Fresnedi said the liquor ban, which is in effect from March 15 to April 4, was implemented to prevent gatherings that increase the risk of spreading COVID-19.

The Muntinlupa mayor is set to sign an amended ordinance prohibiting the sale, trade, delivery, and consumption of liquor and other alcoholic beverages in the city.

Individuals who will violate the liquor ban will be fined P2,500 for the first offense, and P5,000 for the second and succeeding offenses.

Erring establishments will have their business permit suspended and their stores will be closed for one week for the first offense, and revocation of business permit or license for second and succeeding offenses.

Violators who are government employees will face administrative charges with penalties. Penalties for minors (below 18 years old) will be charged against their parents or guardians and those who are part of the local scholarship program may lose their grant.

The Muntinlupa City Council has approved the imposition of curfew hours from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., adopting the Metro Manila Council Resolution No. 21-03. Exempted from the curfew are Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR), medical frontliners, essential workers, local fishermen, Kabalikat sa Kalinisan (street sweepers), and delivery drivers carrying essential goods.

Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Muntinlupa, the city government placed two areas on lockdown: Cruzero Street in Villa Carolina 1 Subdivision in Brgy.
