Mayor Vico Sotto mourns death of driver due to COVID-19, undergoes quarantine until March 24

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has revealed that his driver, whom he fondly calls "Kuya Vener," has passed away over the weekend due to COVID-19.

"Napakabait at maaasahan si Kuya Vener. Si ever-smiling… na kahit nga pinapagalitan na ay nakangiti pa rin," Vico shared.

"Nung hindi pa ako konsehal at nagiisa palang siyang staff ko, kaming dalawa yung laging magkasama. Sinuyod namin ang mga eskenita't looban ng Pasig nang kaming dalawa lang. Kwentuhan lang habang nasa sasakyan, mula umaga hanggang gabi."

Vico noted how good Vener was as husband, father, and friend.

"Mahal na mahal siya ng mga tao… Mami-miss ka namin Kuya Vener. Mahal ka namin."

Meanwhile, the only child of Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes is now udergoing quarantine.

"Following DOH protocol, I will be in QUARANTINE until MARCH 24 (2 weeks from when he last drove for me). I will continue working via Zoom and phone," he said.

"Na-PCR test na rin kaming mga close contacts. Mamayang hapon ang resulta. Wag mag-alala ok naman po kaming lahat..walang sintomas," he added. "Pero kahit mag-negative ay tatapusin ko ang quarantine alinsunod sa DOH guidelines. Posible kasing nagi-incubate pa lang ang virus kaya negative."
