Citizen-led group Ambagan PH launched "Project Angat Pinay," a livelihood project for the underprivileged mothers, over the weekend to mark Women's Month.

The group provided relief packs to 100 mothers and livelihood packages to chosen families in crisis and calamity-affected communities in the town of Binangonal, Rizal.

"Sa bisa ng ating Ambagan, nakapagbigay tayo ng kabuhayan package at business management training sa mga nanay ng dalawang pinakamahirap na pamilyang napili natin (Through our contribution, we have been able to provide livelihood packages and business management training to the mothers of the two poorest families we have selected)," Ambagan PH National President Angelica Reyes said.

"Kitang-kita mo yung saya sa mata ng mga nanay. Ganito talaga (You can clearly see the happiness in the eyes of mothers. It's really like this), to empower women, we need to recognize their economic contribution, we need to help them appreciate their worth in this society, and most importantly we need to give them access to opportunities," Reyes added.

The initiative is led by Ambagan PH in partnership with entrepreneurs and riders from Kissed by Nature PH, Bull Riders Club, Rizal Triple X Riders Group, and Rizal Riders Community Philippines.

"Walang maliit o malaking ambag. Sobrang masaya kami dahil ultimo riders group ay nag-ambagan ng tig dalawang kilong bigas para sa mga gipit nating kababayan (There's no small or large contribution. We are very happy because even riders groups donated two kilos of rice each for our needy countrymen)," Reyes said.

Formed in the beginning of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Ambagan PH is a network of volunteers responding in crisis and calamity situations, helping vulnerable sectors of society, and promoting inclusive, sustainable, and long-term solutions.
