The fourth Sunday of Lent is Laetare Sunday or the Sunday of Rejoicing.
It is a reminder of the event we look forward to at the end of the penitential season and the joy in anticipation of the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.
Like Gaudete Sunday during Advent, the liturgical color today is rose.
During Lent, it is forbidden for the altar to be decorated with flowers, except on the fourth Sunday (Laetare Sunday), solemnities, and feasts. Floral decoration should always show moderation and be arranged around the altar rather than on the altar table, the Archdiocese of Manila said citing the General Instruction of the Roman Missal.
It added that the GIRM also states that in Lent, the playing of musical instruments is called only to support the singing, except on Laetare Sunday, solemnities, and feasts.
