For the first time, former beauty queen-turned-actress Maxine Medina will play a kontrabida in the romantic-comedy series “First Yaya” on GMA-7 and she’s thrilled about the new acting challenge.
“Ganun pala ang mam-bully,” said the smiling Medina during a Zoom press conference with select members of the entertainment press on March 12.
Medina, 30, isn’t a war freak. All her life, she is known as sweet and nice.
“Hindi talaga ako pala-away kaya ibang challenge sa akin ang kontrabida role. After the shoot, madali naman ako nakaka-alis sa kontrabida persona ko. Hindi ko na ito dinadala sa amin,” she said.
Medina also revealed that they are slapping scenes in “First Yaya” which stars Gabby Concepcion (President Glenn Acosta) and Sanya Lopez (Yaya Melody). She plays Lorraine Prado who is determined to be the First Lady at all costs.
“Mahirap gawin yun (manampal) lalo na kapag close ka na sa cast. Naging close na kami sa isa’t isa and we always look forward to work with one another sa set,” she said.
Medina said that she has no issues with lock-in tapings which she thinks work so much to her advantage.
“Feeling ko nga parang nasa beauty pageant uli ako kasi I wake up at 5:30 a.m. to do my own make-up. Then 7 a.m., susunduin na kami ng service para sa location. Sa location, doon naman ako aayusan ng hair.”
“Pakiramdam ko rin parang nasa Hollywood ako during lock-in taping. Tatawagin ka na lang kapag eksena mo na. Ang maganda sa lock-in taping walang na-le-late. Lahat kami on time. Two weeks na kaming naka-lock-in and marami na rin kaming eksena na nagawa,” she said.
Medina said she is also excited to work with GMA-7 for the first time. “Maayos naman silang kausap at wala naman akong naging problem with Kapuso network.”
She also revealed that she’s in love with a non-showbiz boyfriend.
“Naiintindihan naman niya ang work ko. And he’s very supportive. May lovelife naman kami despite the busy schedule,” Medina said.
