Robredo grateful to supporters for heeding call on community work

Vice President Leni Robredo thanked her supporters who heeded the call to do community work instead of spending on banners and streamers for her yet unsure 2022 presidential bid.

Robredo said she saw that her supporters went to different communities last weekend to help those in need.

“Gusto ko lang ulit magpasalamat sa ating supporters—marami na naman sa kanilang lumabas sa mga communities para tumulong (I want to thank my supporters because I saw many of them went out to communities to help),” she added.

The vice president saw supporters from Albay, Iloilo, and the National Capital Region (NCR). “Gusto ko lang magpasalamat na ginagawa nila ito. Kasi lahat naman ngayon nagsasakripisyo pero sila hindi alam mo iyon, hindi iniisip ang sarili (I just want to thank for what they did. Everyone is sacrificing but they, they did not think of themselves),” she said.

The lady official said she can see how they are trying to help these communities, but lamented that she couldn’t thank them personally.

Harvey Keh, the lead convenor of the Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership, earlier said that “many #TeamLeniRobredo volunteers are setting up community feeding programs as a response to (the) VP’s call to help our kababayans.”

The feeding program was called hashtag #TulongHindiTarp, which translates to “help, not tarp.”

The tarp is in reference to presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s tarpaulins and streamers that hang in several key cities in the country.

The materials urging her to run for president were supposedly printed and distributed by her supporters.
