Locsin calls out Roque for saying cursing is 'normal' for old people

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. on Wednesday threw expletives at Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque for saying that President Duterte’s penchant for cursing at critics is normal for elderly people.

“What are you f_____g saying, Harry, that old guys are foul-mouthed, p_____ i__; I love you Harry, but don't push it,” Locsin said in a tweet.

The DFA chief was reacting to Roque’s response when asked if President Duterte’s unabated cursing would raise a generation of children who see expletives as normal.

“Ay hindi naman po. Kasi alam naman po nila na Presidente naman yun, 76 years old, hindi na puwede magbago (No, that’s not the case. They know that he is the President and 76 years old and can no longer change), Roque said in a television interview.

The President is turning 76 on March 28, 2021.

Last month, the country's top diplomat dealt President Duterte's adviser on OFW Secretary Abdullah Mama-o with expletive and threat for the latter's alleged interference in affairs within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Mama-o earned the ire of Locsin after he appeared before a Senate committee hearing on the functions of the proposed Department of Overseas Filipinos.

"One thing sure, DOFW will have attachés but never consuls. So Mamao, don't you dare browbeat my DFA people on that issue. Who the f___ do you think you are? Be careful. I will not debase the consular status," Locsin said in a tweet.

Locsin is known for lacing his tweets with profanity and sometimes insults to certain people, including journalists.

In November 2019, journalist groups slammed Locsin for cursing a newspaper reporter on Twitter while covering an ASEAN event in Bangkok, Thailand.
