Lipa archdiocese ready to open churches for Taal evacuees
The Archdiocese of Lipa in Batangas said it was ready to open its churches for Taal evacuees.

"For sure we will open but we need to put in place (health) protocols," Lipa Archdiocesan Social Action Commission Director Father Jayson Siapco told church-run Radio Veritas on Tuesday, March 9.
"If ever the people will evacuate, then we can openly and courageously open our churches and our institutions," he added.
Siapco said they will be strictly implementing health and safety protocols for the evacuees amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
"We can accomodate them. But this time, we have to be careful also,” he said.
On March 9, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) raised the alert status of Taal Volcano from Alert Level 1 to Alert Level 2. "This means that there is probable magmatic activity that may or may not lead to an eruption," it said in a bulletin.
Phivolcs added that at Alert Level 2, evacuation is not yet recommended.
