Here's what visa-holding aliens need to know before leaving PH

Some foreign nationals holding visas issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) will be required to secure travel pass before leaving the country.

In an advisory, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said a departing alien must obtain a travel pass from the bureau if he or she is a special non-immigrant visa holder who is exempted from securing emigration clearance certificate (ECC) and special return certificate (SRC) when leaving the country.
The BI chief said this new policy was in compliance with the resolution of the Inter-Agency Tax Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF).
The task force had decreed that visa-issuing authorities must issue a travel pass to departing aliens who were issued visas pursuant to the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940 and other special laws.
"If your BI-issued visa exempts you from securing ECC and SRC prior to departure, then you are required to secure travel pass from our office which should be presented to immigration officers at the airport," Morente explained. He said an applicant must submit a copy of his passport's biopage, airline ticket, and the visa implementation page at least seven days before departure.
Among the aliens who need a travel pass are those who were issued special visa for employment generation and special non-immigrant visa under the Omnibus Investment Code.
