DSWD, DTI to discuss Friday draft guidelines on online discounts for senior citizens, PWDs
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) are expected to meet on Friday, March 12, to tackle the proposed guidelines on discounts for online purchases by senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

DSWD Spokesperson Irene Dumlao disclosed this to the Manila Bulletin when asked to comment on the complaint report filed by consumer advocacy group Laban Konsyumer Inc. against the DSWD and the DTI before the Anti-Red Tape Authority for supposed “inaction” on calls to immediately draft the guidelines.
"May meeting ang DSWD and DTI (The DSWD and DTI will have a meeting) on Friday to discuss the draft guidelines prepared by DTI,” she told the Manila Bulletin in a Viber message.
She assured the public that the agency “is currently addressing the matter.”
“What we want to assure our seniors, PWDs and the Laban Konsyumer group is that, DSWD supports all actions that will uphold their interest and welfare,” Dumlao said.
Reports said Victorio Dimagiba, president of consumer advocacy group Laban Konsyumer Inc, described as a mere lip service the commitments made by DSWD and DTI that they would act on calls to draft online shopping guidelines for seniors and PWDs. He said up to now, there has been no public consultation on the guidelines, while most senior citizens and PWDs were not able to claim the discounts granted by law.
