DAVAO CITY – The Consul General of China here donated 43 police motorcycles to the City Government of Davao.
Chinese Consul General Li Lin, who turned over the donation to Mayor Sara Duterte Tuesday, reiterated the commitment of the Chinese government to work with the Filipino people towards economic recovery.
He said he hopes the motorcycle vehicles would help keep peace and order, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and stable environment for the revival of the economy.
Lin also said that China has committed to continue its cooperation with the Philippine government in “advancing the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative and “’Build, Build, Build’ strategy towards the common development and prosperity of Mindanao.” The city government shared 32 motorcycles to several cities, municipalities, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Southern Mindanao, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Davao.
The City Information Office said the city government gave one each for Malita and Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental; two for Digos City, Davao del Sur; two for Tagum City, one each for Island Garden City of Samal, Panabo City, and Carmen, Davao del Norte; two for Mati City, Davao Oriental; one each for Nabunturan and Monkayo, Davao de Oro; two for General Santos City; two for Zamboanga City; one for Tangub City; two for Cagayan de Oro City, one each for Iligan City and Malaybalay City; one each for Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, Jolo, Sulu, and Marawi City; one unit each for Tandag City, Surigao City, and Butuan City; and two each for PCG-Southern Mindanao and CIDG-Davao.
Duterte recognized the importance of peace and order as the basic factors for growth and development.
“There is a need to strengthen the capability of our security units not only through trainings but through the provision of equipment and vehicles that will enable them to perform their functions to the best of their abilities,” she said.
She said she hopes that the act of good will continue to “forge better connections” to ensure the safety, welfare, and well-being of the people of Mindanawons for the years to come.
