BIR reshuffles 15 district officers to intensify P2.08-T tax drive, anti-corruption effort

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has reshuffled 15 key revenue district officers (RDOs) in Metro Manila and elsewhere as part of its efforts to attain the P2.08-trillion collection target for the year.

Sources disclosed that BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay will carry more personnel changes to boost the chances of generating more money for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and economic recovery programs of the government.

The BIR chief has expressed confidence of meeting the collection goal.

Among the affected RDOs was Renato Mina, who was moved from Pasay City to Taguig City-Pateros; Renato Ruiz, from east Makati to Pasay City; Rufo Banario, from Valenzuela City to east Makati; and Stimson Cureg, from Isabela to Valenzuela City.

Arnulfo Galapia of south Quezon City and Antonio Ilagan of north Quezon City exchanged positions.

RDO Rey Geli of Taguig City and Franklin Tabaquin, chief of the Quezon City tax fraud division were promoted as assistant regional directors of Laguna-Quezon-Marinduque and Bacolod City revenue regions, respectively.

The same sources said Dulay transferred some field officials to "freezer" posts as part of his anti-corruption initiatives.
