Caloocan City to benefit from DPWH-built temporary COVID hospital, off-site dorm
A temporary treatment facility within the Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital & Sanitarium in Caloocan City was recently completed, thus increasing accommodation space for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the city.

The 22-room modular fabricated hospital will “exclusively accommodate” COVID-19 patients classified as moderate to severe cases.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said the “timely completion” of the modular hospital “is much needed especially with the spike of new cases.”
The facility was officially turned over to the hospital on Tuesday, March 9.
An off-site dormitory with 16 rooms for medical personnel manning the health facility was also turned over on the same day.
The newly-built modular hospital can instantly start admitting patients, Villar said.
The Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital usually caters to patients from Caloocan City, Quezon City, and from provinces such as Bulacan, Rizal, and Batangas.
Meanwhile, the DPWH said a total of 720 COVID-19 isolation facilities and off-site dormitories have been built nationwide.
These have a total bed capacity of 26,099. Other similar modular hospitals are also being constructed at the Quezon Institute, with five units of modular hospitals and two modular dormitories; and the Lung Center of the Philippines with one modular hospital, five isolation facilities, and an off-site dormitory for medical personnel in Pasay City.
