Muntinlupa LGU's road clearing operations commended by DILG-NCR
The Muntinlupa City government’s road clearing operations have earned positive remarks from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

A validation team from the DILG-National Capital Region conducted a road clearing assessment in Muntinlupa.
The team, headed by DILG-NCR Assistant Regional Director Atty. Analyn Baltazar-Cortez, together with representatives from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and National Capital Region Police Office, inspected 10 roads in the city.
Cortez presented some major and minor obstructions observed by the team and discussed recommendations for the city government’s consideration. She also lauded the effort to clear roads and rehabilitate sidewalks in Muntinlupa.
“While we acknowledge that the maintenance of cleared roads is a challenging task, the efforts for road clearing is very noticeable. There is a roving vehicle for public announcement, traffic enforcers are highly visible on major intersections, and roads are generally clean and well maintained,” said Cortez.
The final rating will be released by the DILG upon the completion of inspections of all Metro Manila local government units (LGU). Muntinlupa is the 13th LGU to be visited by the regional validation team.
Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi welcomed the recommendations from the DILG and ordered barangay chairmen to immediately resolve observed obstructions in their areas of jurisdiction.
He committed to support the national government’s thrust in clearing all obstructions and rehabilitating public roads.
President Rodrigo Duterte ordered in 2019 the clearing of obstructions on public roads and sidewalks, including the removal of illegal structures, illegally-parked vehicles, and illegal vending.
The DILG issued memorandum circular 2020-145 for the continuation of road clearing, mandating LGUs to remove road and sidewalk obstructions. The degree of implementation depends on the community quarantine classification. For Muntinlupa, the partial implementation of road clearing continuation is allowed as it is under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
