Ray Parks Jr. will take not part in the upcoming PBA season due to personal reasons, the TNT Tropang Giga announced Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Parks said on his Instagram account that the decision came after his discussions with the TNT management, adding that it would be in the best interest of him and his family to skip the PBA campaign.

“It is with a heavy heart that I will have to excuse myself and not partake in this year’s PBA season due to personal reasons which in particular, my family,” Parks said.

“It was not an easy decision to make, especially since I’ve been in constant talks with TNT management, but right now, this is what’s best for me and my family,” he added.

The 28-year-old is coming off a season in which he helped the Tropang Giga reach the Finals of the PBA Philippine Cup bubble while also being nominated for the Best Player of the Conference award.

Parks averaged 22.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals in 17 games for TNT but his campaign was cut short when he hurt his calf in Game 1 of the Finals against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

“I will always be grateful for the opportunity to represent TNT and be part of such a special team and culture. Hopefully one day, once everything is resolved, I can come back to the team and help bring a championship to TNT,” Parks said.
