The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) urged the youth to register and exercise their right to vote for the May 2022 national and local elections.

“I invite, encourage, and urge our young people to register for the upcoming elections because yun ang ating contribution at ang atin ding obligation sa society and sa community yung pagpili ng ating mga leaders (that is our contribution, and our obligation to society and the community -- to choose our leaders) -- and that is also how we participate,” CBCP- Episcopal Commission on Youth Chairman Bishop Rex Andrew Alarcon in an interview over Church-run Radyo Veritas.
The prelate said that a single vote can make a huge difference for the country.
“Elections are times when we participate directly in governance. Also, that is how we make a difference even by (a) single vote speak of what is call(ed) the power of one, kahit isa ka lang napaka-powerful yan (a single vote is very powerful),” he added.
With the use of the internet and modern technology, the youth can easily search the process on how to register for the upcoming elections.
“So I encourage our dear mga kabataan na mag-register, kung hindi niyo alam -- check on the internet, magtanong sa inyong local office so that you will be able to participate in the upcoming elections (So, I encourage our dear young people to register, if you don't know (the registration process) check on the internet, ask your (local office so that you will be able to participate in the upcoming elections),” the prelate said.
