The prevailing northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the easterlies may bring cloudy skies with chances of rains over parts of the country this Friday, March 5, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said amihan will continue to affect northern Luzon, the easterlies or humid winds from the Pacific will affect the eastern sections of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
In its afternoon weather update Thursday, March 4, PAGASA said Masbate, Sorsogon, Biliran, and Samar Provinces may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to easterlies.
Residents of the affected areas were warned that flash floods or landslides may occur due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
State meteorologists said Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon would have cloudy skies with light rains in the next 24 hours due to amihan.
Moreover, the amihan is also forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the prevailing easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said no weather disturbance will affect the country in the next few days.
It added that no gale warning was issued, which means that fishing boats and other small sea craft are allowed to venture out into the sea.
