29 more overseas Filipinos infected; 59 recover -- DFA


The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday reported 29 new COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) cases, 58 new recoveries, and 12 new fatalities among Filipinos abroad.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of overseas Filipinos with COVID-19 to 15,052. Out of this total, 9,513 have recovered, 4,506 are still undergoing treatment, and 1,033 died of the disease.

To date, the total number of countries and territories with coronavirus cases involving Filipinos remains at 87.

The Middle East and Africa remain as the combined regions with the biggest numbers in all categories, namely confirmed COVID-19 cases, 8,131; recoveries, 4,755; undergoing treatment, 2,712, and deaths, 664.

The Department vowed to continue tracking the status of Filipinos abroad and facilitate their repatriations whenever possible.
