Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) chairman Emmanuel Piñol said Wednesday, Mar. 3, that MinDA will link up coconut farmers in Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to the Plaridel Processing Facility once it is operating.

"Peter Paul Philippines, a 100% Filipino-owned corporation has promised a good price for coconuts to be processed into Virgin Coconut Oil, Coconut Water, Desiccated Coconut and other high-value products," Piñol said.

He said according to Asst. Vice President for Special Projects of Peter Paul Philippines Quirino Panganiban, the facility would "initially need 250,000 husked coconuts daily.

"Panganiban said that volume would require a manpower complement of 800 workers which could go to as high as 2,000 when the facility goes into full operation," Piñol said.

The five-hectare facility will be the third processing plant of Consolidated Coconut Corp. in the country.

The company has established a plant in Candelaria, Quezon, and Sorsogon.
