BOCAUE, Bulacan — A man who went hiding for almost two years after murdering and eating some body parts of his victim was finally arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Barangay Igolot this town Tuesday afternoon (March 2).

Lt. Col. Luke Ventura, CIDG provincial officer, identified the arrested suspect as Marlon Castillo Cruz, 42, of Mercado Street, Barangay Tiaong, Guiguinto, Bulacan.

Ventura said that Cruz was arrested by CIDG operatives on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Caroline Soriano-Rojas, the presiding judge, 3rd Judicial Region, RTC Branch 84, in the City of Malolos dated July 30, 2020 for a murder case.

Police records showed that Cruz stabbed to death his victim identified as Roger Herrera, of Barangay Tabe, also of Guiguinto town. The incident took place in Barangay Cutcut, Guiguinto sometime in July 2019.

Herrera bore two stab wounds in the chest that caused his instantaneous death. According to reports, the suspect ate the leg part of Herrerra while drinking liquor after burning the remains of the victim.

In an interview conducted by the Bulacan local media, the suspect strongly denied the killing and eating parts of Herrera’s dead body.

The arrested suspect is detained at the Bulacan CIDG for further investigation and documentation.
