Man arrested after coercing minor to steal almost P.5M inside town mayor’s house

SUAL, PANGASINAN – A man was arrested after he was accused of forcing a minor to steal money right inside their town mayor’s house.

Police identified the suspect as 48-year-old Eugenio Bumacod Jr. who is also an employee of the Municipality of Sual in Pangasinan.

The suspect was identified through the testimony of a 14-year-old boy who was said to have been convinced to commit the crime.

Sual Mayor Liseldo Calugay, 49, said he discovered the missing amount when he saw some money scattered inside his home.

“The official exerted effort and found out that the 14-year-old son of one of his tenants was stealing from his drawer since September last year,” police said.

The minor said he was first induced by the suspect to steal money September of last year which was then repeated several times until the crime was discovered.

The mayor said he lost a total of P497,000 which was placed inside their drawer.
