Municipal ABC president nabbed in buy-bust

TACLOBAN CITY - An Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) official was among the 95 individuals arrested by Eastern Visayas operatives within a 24-hour operation against illegal activities Monday, March 1.

PLtCol. Bella Rentuaya, Police Regional Office 8 Information Officer, identified the suspect as 57-year-old Romeo Ochea Saturinas, municipal ABC president and a resident of Brgy. Pondol, Hinunangan, Southern Leyte

The poseur buyer was able to buy a medium-sized plastic sachet containing alleged shabu worth P20,000.

They were also able to seize three more sachets of suspected shabu and other pieces of evidence from the suspect.

A total of seven anti-illegal drug operations were launched in Tacloban City; Hinunangan, Southern Leyte; MacArthur, Bato, Palo and Matag-ob, Leyte wherein eight individuals were arrested and 46 sachets of suspected shabu were seized.

Eastern Visayas cops were also able to arrest 14 most wanted and 43 wanted persons five illegal gamblers; 21 illegal fishers; and 4 illegal loggers.

This is part of the regional police force’s one-time-big-time operations from February 25 to March 1.
