Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Monday joined his colleagues in congratulating Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto for being recognized as one of the world's "Anti-Corruption Champions" by the US Department of State.
Revilla said in his manifestation that he was reminded of the Philippines' national hero, Jose Rizal, when the 31-year-old mayor was cited by the US State Department for his efforts in Pasig City.
"Ipagpatuloy mo ang 'yong magandang nasimulan (Continue what you started), you truly embody what our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal has said: 'Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan (The youth is our nation's hope).' Thank you for being such an inspiration," Revilla said in his manifestation as he supported Senate Resolutions No. 659 and 660 filed by Senators Lito Lapid, Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III.
"I'm sure your father, Vic Sotto, si 'Enteng Kabisote', masayang-masaya 'yon at syempre ang iyong nanay (is very happy and of course your mother) Ate Coney . Of course, your Tito 'Tito', our Senate President na isa magandang ring ehemplo na katulad mo (who has also been a good example to public officials)," he continued.
The Senate later approved the resolution. All the senators were made co-authors to the measure.
A former actor, Revilla worked with Sotto's father, actor and comedian Vic Sotto in the fantasy movie "Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote" in 2010, which was based on their respective film franchises, "Agimat" and "Enteng Kabisote". The movie was followed by a sequel in 2012.
"Again, Vico, congratulations. Keep up the good work. Nasa likuran mo kami (We are behind you)," Revilla told the Pasig City mayor.
