Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives have arrested a South Korean fugitive wanted by authorities in Seoul for swindling and defrauding his two compatriots of large sums of money.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said 42-year-old Lee Beomseok, was arrested last week inside a restaurant in Angeles City by elements of the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).
Morente said the arrest of the fugitive was sought by the South Korean Embassy so he may face fraud investigation in his home country.
Records showed Lee received from his victims in 2013 and 2014 a total of US$270,000 allegedly for a restaurant business.
Lee is already an undocumented alien due to the revocation of his passport by the Korean government.
The Korean is presently held at the BI detention facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending his deportation by the bureau’s board of commissioners.
“He will be placed in the immigration blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines,” Morente said
