Gov't mulls converting quarantine facilities into vaccination hubs - Dizon
National Task Force (NTF) Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Vince Dizon said the national government is mulling to convert quarantine facilities into additional coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccination centers.

In a televised press briefing on Tuesday, March 2, Dizon said they are currently in talks with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and local government units to convert quarantine facilities into vaccination hubs as the country begins its vaccination program.
"Quarantine centers can be converted into additional vaccination hubs, but we're still monitoring just in case our cases increase again. We need to do a lot of preparation first before we convert them," he said in Filipino.
Dizon also pointed out that quarantine facilities can be made into evacuation centers later on.
"Local government units can also turn quarantine facilities into evacuation centers once the pandemic is over," he added.
Dizon assured that there are enough syringes to be used for the arrival of 1.5 million vaccines from Chinese pharmaceutical firm Sinovac Biotech Ltd. and AstraZeneca from COVAX facility this March.
After hitches, the Philippines officially kicked off its vaccination program on Monday, March 1, following the arrival of 600,000 CoronaVac from Sinovac Biotech Ltd.
The vaccines were donated by the Chinese government to the Philippines.
