CHED OKs limited face-to-face classes for UERM's medical, health programs

The University of the East-Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center Inc. (UERMMMCI) gets green light from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to conduct limited face-to-face classes for senior interns of its medicine programs.

This was announced by the university on Monday, March 1. In February, UERM proposed limited face-to-face classes for its senior interns of the programs in medicine, physical therapy, nursing, medical technology, and the practicum of graduate programs.

The university added that it obtained CHED's approval on March 1, 2021. 

"UERM invested much in terms of cost, time, and human resources. However, one of the key factors that paved the way to success was the coordination, with iterative efforts, of everyone involved in the preparations," it said in a tweet.

With the addition of face-to-face learning engagements, UERM said its Medical Center will now move forward with blended learning programs.

"All of the programs of UERM are top performing and as an institution of higher learning and education in the health sciences, the Medical Center asserts its role to serve, care, and teach," it added.

President Duterte approved in January CHED’s proposal to allow the holding of limited face-to-face classes for medical schools and allied health science programs.

Some of the schools that have been approved by their local government units (LGUs) to hold limited physical classes include the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), University of Santo Tomas (UST), and Centro Escolar University (CEU).
