Donations pour in for typhoon-hit residents in Mindanao

Relief supplies and donations have poured in for the victims of widespread flooding as a result of typhoon “Auring” onslaught in Mindanao.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Monday, March 1, at least 11 sacks of rice were delivered for the affected families in Surigao City, which was donated by the Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC).

“Mula Davao, para sa Surigao. Biyaheng Surigao City ang 11 sako ng bigas na donasyon ng Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC) para sa mga apektadong pamilya ng bagyong Auring (From Davao, to Surigao. At least 11 sacks of rice delivered to Surigao City, which was donated by Metro Davao Medical and Research Center (MDMRC) for the affected families of Typhoon Auring,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.

The PCG said Dr. Jetty Jet Lu from MDMRC personally coordinated with Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) to ensure the fast delivery and distribution to the residents.

Meanwhile, in coordination with the representatives of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the PCG’s extensive relief operation was conducted on Sunday, Feb. 28 to support the recovery of the affected residents in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.

The Coast Guard said donors in Davao who also want to send help in Surigao City may coordinate through 0917-831-3197 or visit the CGDSEM Headquarters in KM 10, Sasa Wharf, Davao City.
