Man drowns in fishpond in Ilocos Norte

PAGUDPUD, Ilocos Norte – A 39-year-old man drowned in a fishpond in Sitio Bulalo, Barangay Suvec here Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Jim Lacar, 39, of Barangay Suvec.
Investigation showed the victim went to gather shells in the fishpond. Rogel

Lacar, his uncle, later discovered the victim’s body floating on the fishpond.

A relative said Jim might have slipped while gathering shellfish in the fishpond. “Kukuha lang siya ng ilulutong shell, pero hindi na nakabalik ng buhay, at malamang nadulas siya sa kinatayuan niya (We went to the fishpond to gather shellfish. He might have slipped from where he was standing in the fishpond and drowned),” the relative said.
