DAVAO CITY – Preparations for the celebration of the 84th Araw ng Dabaw is under way as the city government has prepared various activities for the virtual event on March 1.
Araw ng Dabaw has been declared as a special non-working day in Davao City under Presidential Proclamation No. 1106.
The virtual celebration will be celebrated online through the Araw ng Dabaw 2021 Facebook page from March 1 to March 3.
Mayor Sara Duterte here said the City Tourism Office has prepared various online activities for the city's founding anniversary celebration and the only face-to-face gathering will be the flag raising ceremony and the thanksgiving Mass.
“Ang atoang Araw ng Dabaw celebration karong tuiga will be online. Ang atong City Tourism Office nangandam na sila para sa mga online activities (Our celebration of the Araw ng Dabaw this year will be online. Our City Tourism Office is already preparing for our online activities),” she said during her regular program at 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) last Monday.
“(The) only face-to-face nato nga activities for Araw ng Dabaw is the flag-raising ceremony with the limited number of government officials and also Misa Pasasalamat, which will also be limited to government officials,” Duterte added.
Duterte clarified that unlike previous celebrations, the Araw ng Dabaw will now be celebrated every March 1 instead of March 16 based on the recommendation of the National Historical Commission.
