‘Donut is life’: Civilian trapped in Commonwealth shootout asks police to secure her donut

One of the trapped civilians inside a fastfood restaurant during the shootout between members of the police and anti-narcotics agents in Quezon City on Wednesday apparently has another priority — the safety of her donut.

In a now viral video supposedly taken during the incident, a woman was heard repeatedly reminding members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) who were responding to the scene to keep her donut safe.

"Sir, yung donut ko sir, ayun oh… pwede pakuha? (Sir, my donut, can you get it?)” she said during the tense situation when SWAT members carrying long rifles were already demanding them to place their hands behind their heads.

“Sir, ayun oh (It’s just there, Sir),” she added.

But a law enforcer apparently understood her love for donuts. “Sige kunin mo, kunin mo, kunin mo (Get it now!),” she was told.

After that, several others requested for their belongings, including those who asked for their bags. “Sir, yung bag namin, nandoon (Sir, our bags are also there)."

But the SWAT members could no longer grant their requests. They said, “mamaya na, mamaya na! Kamay sa ulo! Walang gagalaw!"

The video, which was taken at the dining area of the fastfood restaurant, has entertained social media users.

Some said, “donut is life.”

They even asked why other civilians managed not to laugh because of her request.

"Patay kung patay, wag lang donut ko'y mawalay (I’d rather die than lose my donut),” a social media user said.
