The Department of Transportation (DOTr) showed off on Facebook Friday, Feb.26, its nearly completed Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) East Extension Project (Santolan-Antipolo).
"Sa ika-26 ng Abril, pasisinayaan na ito, at kinabukasan ay magsisimula ang partial operations (This will be inaugurated on April 26, and the next day, partial operations will begin)," read the post, which has amassed nearly 5,000 likes and heart reactions as of this posting.
The overall progress of the East Extension Project was at 96.29 percent as of last January 31, the post futher read.
The trending upload included pictures of DOTr Sec. Arthur Tugade's inspection of a newly-built station, also last January.
"Layunin ng LRT-2 East Extension Project na maging konektado ang Metro Manila at Probinsya ng Rizal sa pamamagitan ng pagdurutong ng mga istasyong Santolan at dalawang karagdagang istasyon papuntang Antipolo sa Rizal (The aim of the LRT-2 East Extension Project is to connect Metro Manila and the Province of Rizal by linking the Santolan station to two more stations going to Antipolo in Rizal)," the post read.
The two new stations beyond Santolan are the Emerald and Masinag stations. LRT-2, the so-called purple line, was first opened in April 2003.
