According to the OVP, 3,000 rice packs have been sent to Dinagat, while 3,000 hygiene kits have been given to Surigao Del Norte following the typhoon onslaught.

Robredo’s office allocated funds for the rice packs, while the hygiene kits were donations from Angat Buhay partners.

“Ongoing ang assessment natin sa (We have ongoing assessement in) in Surigao del Norte and Dinagat,” OVP said.

Auring, the country’s first tropical storm this year, has brought heavy rains in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao. Massive flooding reportedly occured in Surigao del Sur after a major river overflowed.

Data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRMMC) showed 29,000 families, or 112,734 individuals were affected by the storm.

The OVP said it also sent a team in the two provinces to “assist in immediate needs and post-disaster interventions.”

Even with limited resources, Robredo has managed to run her flagship anti-poverty program, Angat Buhay, and relief operations with the help of private sector.
