Manila gov't inks agreement with JobStart Philippines to give jobs for the youth

The Manila city government on Tuesday signed a memorandum of agreement with JobStart Philippines to give employment opportunities for young adults.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso met with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) at the Manila City Hall to ink the agreement on Tuesday (Feb. 23).
JobStart is a five-year-old program under DOLE that aims to enhance the employment of Filipino youth through full-cycle employment facilitation services.
"Naglalayong makapagbigay ng trabaho ang JobStart Philippines sa ating kabataan sa pamamagitan ng programang ito (JobStart Philippines aims to provide jobs for the youth)," the Manila city government said.
About 100 slots will be given to young adults who will receive Life and Skill Training (LST).
"Nakapaloob po sa MOA na ito ang pagbibigay ng 100 beneficiary slots para sa mga piling young adults na mayroong Life and Skill Training o LST (Contained in the agreement are 100 beneficiary slots for selected young adults who have Life and Skill Training or LST)," the statement read.
A three-month-long technical training will be given to the selected young adults with up to three months of internship.
Present during the signing of the MOA were Manila Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah "Honey" Lacuna-Pangan and Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Manila Director Fernan Bermejo.
