Duterte warns public of a Trillanes comeback in 2022 polls

President Duterte has advised voting Filipinos to be wary of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV should he run for office in the May 2022 elections, saying he will "sell you to the devil."

Trillanes was never far from Duterte’s mind when he presided the situation briefing during his visit to Tandag, Surigao del Sur on Tuesday.

Duterte mentioned Trillanes when Surigao del Sur Governor Alexander Pimentel said that someone must continue his achievements, and told him that his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte or Senator Bong Go must be convinced to run for president next year.

“Be careful of Trillanes. Magbantay kayo (Be on guard). He will sell you to the devil. Kapag ‘yan nakaupo, patay (If he gets elected, you’re dead),” he said.

“Walang hiya ‘yan, totoo lang (He has no shame, that’s true),” Duterte stressed.

The Chief Executive had first denounced how Trillanes dragged his youngest daughter Kitty’s name for allegedly having links to drug lords.

This was in relation to the viral Bikoy “Ang Totoong Narcolist (The True Narcolist)” videos, where Trillanes was implicated. The videos also alleged that Duterte and his family were involved in the illegal drug trade.
