DSWD allocates P22.09 million, distributes family food packs for 'Auring' survivors
To help survivors of Tropical Storm “Auring” to recover, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has allocated P22.09 million as standby funds and distributed hundreds of family food packs to the affected residents.

In a pre-recorded briefing with President Duterte aired late Tuesday, Feb. 23, DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista said that the funds and needed assistance are ready to help the survivors.
“As a whole, we have enough funds and family food packs to support the victims of the typhoon,” Bautista told the President.
Among the initial interventions of the DSWD, Bautista said, is the provision of 3,500 family food packs during the typhoon. The beneficiaries were from Marihatag del Sur and Tandag, Surigao del Sur.
“Some of the family food packs were strategically prepositioned in a way that any municipality or city that necessitates immediate assistance, then we tapped the nearby warehouse,” Bautista added.
Aside from this, Baustista said that there were also 15,000 family food packs that were prepositioned in Surigao del Sur - where 8,000 were already in the field office of CARAGA and 7,000 family food packs are also expected to arrive on Wednesday, Feb. 24. “They were transported in by ship, by land and by air,” he added.
Bautista noted that aside from the P22.09 million allocated as standby funds, there are also stockpiles. “When we talk of stockpiles, they are the food and non-food items - they include hygiene kits, family kits and, among others,” he explained.
Aside from standby funds of the field office of CARAGA, Bautista said that DSWD has Quick Response Funds (QRF) funds in the central office worth 459.8 million which is “ready to augment in case there will be a shortage of funds.”
Bautista also noted that 3,658 families will be provided with cash assistance amounting to P3,000 per family. For those whose houses were totally damaged, they will be given P30,000 each and for those with partially damaged houses, they will be receiving P15,000 each.
