An apparent family problem triggered a man to end his life by jumping off the fourth floor of a shopping mall here on Tuesday, February 23.
Police Station 2 head Lt. Joven Mogato, said the victim, whose name was withheld, was rushed by the mall’s security personnel to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Security personnel said they did not notice any strange movement from mallgoers while doing their regular routine.
They then were told about by the incident Tuesday afternoon and acted immediately by bringing the victim to the hospital. He is said to be a resident of Barangay Sum-ag.
Mogato said a suicide note was recovered by the medical personnel from the victim’s pocket who asked for forgiveness from his loved ones. Police however refused to elaborate on the content of the note.
Also recovered from the victim were a cellular phone and P500.
The police chief said they have yet to talk to the victim’s family if he had previous suicide attempts while the mall’s management has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
