Aeta students receive learning tablets, materials from Converge, CDC


The Converge ICT Solutions Inc. in partnership with Clark Development Corporation (CDC) donated electronic learning materials to Aeta students last week to help them continue their education amid the pandemic.

Sixty learning tablets and nine Large Format Displays (LFDs) were given away to the selected Aeta students under the CDC-OB Montessori Pagsasarili Family Care Program during a turnover activity on Feb. 17.

Converge ICT Chief Executive Officer Dennis Anthony H. Uy together with Converge Chairman Jose P. De Jesus, CDC Chairman Atty. Edgardo Pamintuan, CDC President and CEO Manuel R. Gaerlan,  CDC Director Nestor Villaroman, Jr, and CDC Director Gen. Emmanuel Salamat led the distribution.

In his speech, Gaerlan thanked Converge for its support and encouraged the parents of the students to continue valuing their children’s education.

"We have seen the improvement of the students through this program. We started from 50 and now we have 80 students and counting,” Gaerlan said in a statement.

“The students are lucky to have OB Montessori as partner and I hope the parents will continue to guide their children to help uplift their life in the future. I hope there will be more kind-hearted company like Converge to help us with our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility),” he added.

For his part, Uy expressed elation over their partnership with the state-owned firm.

“It is a great honor to partner with CDC in this kind of CSR for IP people. We see that these young people, our next generation will be our future," Uy said.

The learning materials is expected to be used by the students to continue their education via e-learning module even during the pandemic.

Aeta Pagsasarili Family Care Center, a project under the CSR Program of the state-owned firm, was created through the partnership of CDC and OB Montessori.

Launched in July 2019, the center provides early childhood and adult learning program for Indigenous Peoples from nearby communities of this Freeport.

Meanwhile, Mary Grace Marquez, a parent of one of the student beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to the CDC and Converge for the help that the firms have given to them.

Also present during the activity are CDC Vice President for Administration and Finance Mariza Mandocdoc, CDC Assistant Vice President for External Affairs Rommel Narciso, OB Montessori- Angeles Manager Audrey Paras, and Bamban, Tarlac Municipal Administrator Carlito Policarpio.
