'Most wanted man' of Lanao town meets end after resisting arrest


Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) killed a man wanted for murder in a raid that led to a shootout in Balabagan town of Lanao del Sur.

CIDG director Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro said the operation also resulted in the arrest of four people who were with slain suspect Sarao Mangadang when the arrest warrant was served on Thursday in Barangay Barurao.

Mangadang, who was tagged as the most wanted person of Balabagan town, was wanted for a case or murder. He and his companions allegedly fired at the raiding team which resulted in their death.

Ferro identified those who were arrested as Nasser Tampogao, Jover Mangadang, Acrodin Mangadang and Johari Ambang. A fifth suspect who engaged the policemen in a firefight identified as Orak Mangadang was able to elude arrest.

Seized from the crime scene were an M16 Rifle with scope, and an M14 Rifle, 

Cases of violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law) and Multiple Attempted Murder were filed against those arrested and those who was able to flee.
