Police Corporal Bienvinido Seredio, investigator-on-case, said the victims were on their way to Cordon, this province, to provide road security for a Very Important Person when the accident happened.

Police identified the fatality as Police Patrolwoman Archelle Duldulao and the injured as Police Corporal Berna Austria, Police Patrolwoman Pauline Carlos, Police Corporal Kacelyn Tarayao, and Police Patrolwoman Riza Mae Laureta, all assigned to the Santiago City Police Station.

The patrol car, a white Toyota Hilux (A40823), driven by Austria, was travelling on the national highway at 4:20 p.m. when its left front tire blew out.

The vehicle encroached the opposite lane as the driver lost control of the steering wheel. The vehicle then overturned more than five times before crashing into the concrete fence of Villa Ceferenina.

Duldulao fell on the pavement and was run over by the patrol car, killing her on the spot.

The four other  cops sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Renmar Specialist’s Hospital in Santiago City, police said.
