DSWD reports 1, 297 evacuee-families in Caraga, Davao


As Tropical storm “Auring” was seen moving closer to Dinagat Islands-Eastern Samar-Leyte area,  the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Sunday, Feb. 21, almost 1,300 families or over 5,000 persons were staying in evacuation centers in Caraga and Davao regions.

Based on DSWD’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) report,  said as of 6 p.m., Feb.20,  around 1, 297 families or 5, 054  persons were taking temporary shelter in 37 evacuation centers in the two affected regions.

Meanwhile, it reported that a total of 71 families or 261 persons opted to stay with  their relatives and/or friends. 

The report said the number of families affected by Auring in 40 barangays reached 1, 410 or 5, 475 persons.

The DROMIC said the local government units (LGUs) have provided relief assistance amounting to P179,000 to the affected families.
