Julia Montes recently revealed a "funny" story behind her reunion with her German father Martin Shchnittka in 2016.
Note the two were separated for 21 years.
According to her, she regretted not buying her dad an expensive gift for their reunion.
"Na te-tense kasi ako nu'ng day na 'yun na nag-meet kami," she shared on Dimples Romana's vlog.
She noted how she actually moved the meeting because she's too nervous about it.
"Sa sobrang kaba ko lang, ang feeling ko kasi - I don't know dahil lumaki tayo sa teleserye (having been a child actor) -- parang feeling ko makikita ko 'yung wrong na tao. Parang feeling ko may twists kasi parang super magical 'yung feeling na makikita ko after a long time na hinahanap ko siya," she related.
Though she prepared a reunion gift, Julia admitted she knew it wasn't the best.
"Hindi ko siya dapat bibilhan ng masyadong mamahalin kasi baka mamaya hindi siya 'yung tatay ko tapos sayang 'yung bibilhin ko," she revealed. "Kasi parang feeling ko, dini-divert ko 'yung kaba na what if nga (hindi siya)."
She vividly remembered getting a mini-heart attack when her grandmother Flory didn't recognize her father at first.
"Nu'ng sinabi na parang hindi siya, 'yung kaba ko parang kukunin ako ng lupa na seryoso ba, baka hindi nga," she said.
She consoled herself, saying: "Buti na lang hindi pa masyado mamahalin 'yung binili ko na relo."
But her mom, Gemma Hateau, assured it is indeed her pop!
"So ni-regret ko after, kasi siya pala talaga!"
Julia, born Mara Hautea Schnittka to deaf-mute parents, explained the reason why she picked a watch as the reunion gift.
"Kasi parang feeling ko 'yun 'yung wala kaming time together. So parang gusto kong maging memorable na everytime na nakikita niya 'yung watch. Na ako 'yung nagbigay. Maalala niya na hindi ko iindahin 'yung past na wala kami together.
"'Yung time ngayon, starting now na meet ko siya onwards -- 'yun 'yung mag ma-matter more than 'yung post. So 'yun 'yung parang meaning ko nu'ng binigay ko sa kanya 'yung relo."
