The baby was found by a female pastor last Feb. 11, according to Police Staff Sgt. Rose Ann Gico of the municipal Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD).

The baby’s umbilical cord was still intact, prompting the pastor to bring her to a hospital, she added.

Her unidentified mother just gave birth to her and left her outside the church, wrapped in a jacket, Gico said.

Through the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the baby is now under the care of her foster parents from Himamaylan City, she said.
