During his weekly report on Friday, Feb. 19, DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña said Calabarzon, Central Luzon and Davao regions got their share from at least 1,000 units of RxBox repurposed by the agency to benefit the country’s medical frontliners.

He said DOST-Calabarzon deployed six “RxBoxes”  to The Medical City - Sta. Rosa in Laguna.

The DOST top official noted that the DOST IV-A conducted a three-day remote end-user training for health workers from the intensive care and emergency units of the hospital  to brief them on how to use biomedical device.

"Moreover, DOST-III has turned over its initial 23 RxBox units to be used in the DOH (Department of Health)-managed Temporary and Treatment Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs) in the provinces of Central Luzon,” he said.

De la Peña also cited that DOST-XI "has also finalized agreements and turned over its initial 25 RxBox units to be deployed” to four hospitals in Davao region.

The Southern Luzon Medical Center, Davao Regional Medical Center, Davao del Sur Provincial Hospital and Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center have been identified as the recipients of the RxBox units.

He said with the RxBox, the health workers would be able to monitor their patients without getting near them.

De la Peña explained that the device can monitor a patient's vital signs, and other indicators such as pulse rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and even electrocardiogram readings.
