Bishop Pabillo: No to culture of death

Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo urged Saturday, Feb.20, the Filipino faithful to always value human life.

Pabillo reminded the faithful that death is not a solution to any problem.

"We have to constantly fight for life because there are those who would promote the culture of death na ang akala nila ang kamatayan ang solusyon sa problema (that they think death is the solution to the problem)," he said said in his homily during the celebration of the "Walk for Life" on Saturday, Feb. 20.

The prelate said that the "culture of death" should be rejected.

"Nandyan po ang mga gustong solusyunan ang problema ng kriminalidad: ang kanilang solusyon ay death penalty. Ang problema ng droga: ang kanilang solusyon ay extrajudicial killings. At hanggang ngayon may mga taong nade-depress, ang tingin nila ang solusyon ay suicide. May problema na nabuntis, ang solusyon nila ay abortion. Iyan po ang culture of death (There are those who want to solve the problem on criminality: their solution is death penalty. For drug problem: their solution is extrajudicial killings. There are people who are depressed, they think the solution is suicide. There are those who have problems concerning pregnancy, their solution is abortion. That is the culture of death)," he said.

"Kaya ang pinapakita natin, hindi iyan ang solusyon. Ang buhay ay regalo ng Diyos kaya magtulungan tayo upang isulong ang buhay (We want to show that is not the solution. Life is a gift from God so let us work together to value life)," he added.
