Sec Berna endorses Bohol’s online travel sale

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is backing the Bohol provincial government’s efforts to further promote domestic tourism via massive discounts in its upcoming online travel fair.

The local government and various tourism stakeholders in Bohol have announced its “Balik sa Bohol: Bohol Online Sale,” an island-wide travel sale offering es to tourists.

“With the upcoming Balik sa Bohol: Bohol Online Sale, we look forward to more people traveling to Bohol to see and experience the beauty and wonders of the province,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a statement on Friday, Feb. 19.

“We, at the DOT, along with provincial and local leaders in Bohol, are committed to protecting the health and safety of locals and tourists alike. Regaining the trust and confidence of Filipinos to travel again is essential to the revival of the tourism industry,” Puyat emphasized.

The online travel sale, which will run from Feb. 21 to March 14, aims boost domestic tourism and woo travelers to see Bohol’s natural and cultural wonders.

Bohol Governor Arthur Yap earlier said that the province’s health and safety protocols for tourists have been modified and eased to encourage more travelers to visit the island.

According to Yap, tourists only have to present a “negative RT-PCR test result, with the swab taken within 72 hours to travel time and confirmed booking at a DOT-accredited hotel.” They must register at, he said.

For those going on tour, a confirmed tour booking through a DOT-accredited tour operator is needed.

With this, Puyat encouraged tourists coming from Metro Manila to apply for the subsidized RT-PCR test at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) or the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) priced as low as P900 and P750, respectively.
