NUS opens scholarship for UP students


Interested students of the University of the Philippines (UP) are encouraged to apply for the enterprise summer program in entrepreneurship offered by the National University of Singapore (NUS).

In a Facebook post, UPSCALE Innovation Hub announced that the UP Office of International Linkages is looking for UP undergraduate or postgraduate students to participate in the NUS Enterprise Summer Program.

The program will run from July 5 to 16, 2021 via NUS online. The program topics include business and socio-cultural context of Singapore and ASEAN; practical business insights and skills for aspiring entrepreneurs; and themes in entrepreneurship.

Expected learning outcomes include understanding opportunity recognition and customers/market validation, value proposition/business model design, team formation and lean launch; awareness of diverse startup ecosystems and social cultural environment of Singapore and South East Asia and the importance of the role of social networks in resource acquisition practical; and hackathon experience or skills in developing and pitching startup idea.

UP, through UPSCALE, will prepare and nominate the students for the program.

All UP, regardless of the campus, college, or department, may apply until March 19, 2021. The qualified students will receive scholarship to the two-week virtual program which will begin on July 5, 2021.

The applicants will be asked to propose venture opportunities, interview at least one potential customer, and present their findings during one of the consult sessions.
