Metro Manila police responders equipped with more search and rescue equipment
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has equipped its disaster responders with more than P1 million worth of search and rescue equipment to boost the police capability during typhoons and other natural calamities in Metro Manila.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. said all the equipment would be placed under the custody of the Metro Manila police force’s Regional Mobile Force Battalion which is the usual unit being tapped in times of disasters.
“We will continuously conduct strategic efforts to enhance the productivity and competence in rescuing especially that the previous typhoons which hit Metro Manila have greatly affected several lives and properties of its residents,” said Danao.
Among those turned over were 18 pieces Floater Tube/Life Ring, 11 pieces flood lights, 90 pieces floating vest; 72 pieces headlight, 72 pieces rescue helmet, nine sets First Aid Kit, nine sets Rescue Rope (30m, 10mm diameter) 300 meters; nine units Chainsaw (36 inches), two units Rescue Boat with accessories, and two units of Outboard Motor (OBM) Yamaha.
The equipment is worth P1.160 million.
“We have learned from the past typhoons so I am giving paramount priority to search and rescue. The additional equipment will be of great factor in protecting Filipino people,” said Danao.
Last year, Marikina, Pasig and nearby areas were swept by flash floods due to typhoon ‘Ulysses’.
