GAB approves 3 training venues for PVL teams

The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) has cleared three training venues for Premier Volleyball League teams as it nears resumption of competition in the coming months.

GAB Chairman Baham Mitra has given a clear signal on Ronac Gym in Shaw Boulevard, and Greenhills West Gym and The Arena both in San Juan City following their recent inspection along with PVL officials headed by organizer Sports Vision President Ricky Palou.

Palou said Mitra has instructed his team to give full support to the teams and the league.

“He (Mitra) has been very supportive,” he said.

With the GAB approval, the teams must secure permission from the local government unit to practice. GAB will then make final verifications.

The league has proposed Creamline, Choco Mucho and Perlas to train at Ronac Gym, while newcomer Peak Form is being eyed to train at Greenhills West Gym.

Petro Gazz will train at The Arena.

Cignal, PLDT and BaliPure have yet to choose their training venues.

The league is planning to give teams at least three months of training before resuming competition to avoid injuries and give ample time to regain team chemistry following team-training restrictions due to the pandemic for the past year.

Tournament is tentatively set the second quarter of the year under a bubble-type setup.
