No more 'bad tomatoes" in the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
Commissioner Caesar Dulay made this vow to rid the service of corruption during the virtual launch of the 2021 tax collection campaign at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City Wednesday, Feb.17.

Despite this declaration, Dulay insisted that a big majority of the revenuers were honest and dedicated to their jobs, as evidenced by the P305-billion collection surplus generated last year.
The agency raised more than P1.9 trillion in 2020. The target for this year is to garner P2.081 trillion.
He said the agency will continue to use the same collection strategies last year in the attempt to reach their 2021 goal.
These include the aggressive filing of tax evasion cases against tax cheats and the closure of businesses under-declaring sales.
The virtual kick-off rites at PICC were attended by few government officials and business leaders, in observance of existing health and safety protocols.
Among those who expressed support to the tax collection drive were business heavyweights Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corporation, Manuel Pangilinan of Metro Pacific, Enrique Razon of International Container Terminal Services, and Jaime Zobel de Ayala of Ayala Corporation.
